By accessing the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.   If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

These Terms might operate in conjunction with the property's lessee(s)/landlord(s) guidelines. The landlord and/or the lessee retain the right to regulate, restrict, or oversee your usage of the Service.  Please consult the lessee or landlord for the relevant guidelines.  Where you access third party sites via the Service then those third-party sites may have their own terms and conditions by which you must abide. 

We reserve the right to modify these Terms or terminate the Service at any time. Changes will be communicated by posting revised Terms on the welcome page of the splash page. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any such modified Terms. 

You need a Wi-Fi-enabled device with service-compatible software in order to use the Service. Your ability to use and access the Service may be impacted by the type, configuration, and state of your device. By using the Service, you agree to accept all risks of device malfunctions or damage. You can only use the Service if your device is within a Wi-Fi network's coverage area. 

We do not guarantee or promise that the Service will always be available, accessible or that the Service will be fault free or fit for any particular use or requirement. We may occasionally have to interrupt the Service or change the technical specification of the Service for maintenance reasons, for upgrades or because of an emergency, or where otherwise reasonably required. We are not responsible for data, messages, or webpages that may stop working or for any information that may be lost because of interruptions or performance issues with our Service. We do not accept any liability for any loss, damage, loss or corruption of data, security infringement, or injury that you may sustain as a result of using the Service. By accepting the Terms you agree to be solely responsible for any such loss, infringement, damage, or injury.  


User Responsibility of Service

In the due course of utilising the Service, you must respect all copyrights. Downloading or sharing copyrighted materials for illicit acts is strictly prohibited. You must be aware that, as you connect your device(s) to the internet through the Service, you expose such devices to worms, viruses, Trojan horses, denial-of-service attacks, intrusions, packet sniffing, and other abuses by third parties.  

You understand that wireless Internet access is inherently not secure, and as a user, you should adopt appropriate security measures when using the Service. We highly discourage you from conducting confidential transactions (such as online banking, credit card transactions, etc.) over any wireless network, including this Service. You are responsible for the security of your own devices. 

The use of the Service to access/ hack / intrude on another person's system/ electronic devices, digital account, files, or data  without permission is prohibited. Attempting to circumvent or subvert the system or network security measures is prohibited.  

The use of the Service for any illegal, anti-government, unlawful, fraudulent or malicious purposes or to inconvenience, harass, upset, defaming, sending offence or obscene messages to other internet users is strictly prohibited. Any activity carried out with or without intent to disobey applicable laws is strictly prohibited. 

By agreeing to the Terms, you take complete responsibility for any offencesperformed before, during or after the use of the Service.  

We reserve the right to cooperate with authorities with competent jurisdiction and/or third parties in the investigation of any suspected or alleged crime or civil wrong. Violations of these Terms may result in the suspension or termination of access to the Service.  

If you are under 18 years old, you confirm that you have obtained your parent’s / guardian’s consent before using the Service and you agree to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. Where you are a parent / guardian consenting to the use of this Service by a person under 18, you agree to:

  1. supervise their use;  
  2. accept all associated risks; and  
  3. accept any or all liabilities arising from their use of the Service.

Privacy Policy & Data Collection

When your device is Wi-Fi-enabled it sends a probing request to our Service. By identifying the probing request, we may recognise that a device is within proximity of our Wi-Fi network, and the approximate location of the device by using Wi-Fi signal strength to estimate the location of the devices our network can see. The information provided to complete the probing request and connect to the Wi-Fi is set to be collected. You may not be able to access the Service without providing the requested data. The Service may or may not collect additional data fields like location, IP address, MAC address or information of any nature that flows through the network.

The device may automatically connect to a Wi-Fi network if it is revisited within the internet coverage area. The decision is yours as to whether you will or will not reconnect to the Wi-Fi.  

Data collected through use of the Service becomes the property of Backbone.  

As per the most up to date privacy and data protection legislation, Backbone is only allowed to use personal information if it has a proper reason or ‘legal basis’ to do so. In the case of Wi-Fi connection data, its ‘legal ground’ for processing this data is: 

  • For statutory and public functions
  • To undertake / study user activities and promote various products and services offered by Backbone.

Data collected throughout the process will only be accessible and controlled by Backbone employees, plus third-party vendors / suppliers involved who either host, process or use the data for promotional purposes, subject to strict data protection and security controls. The collected data shall not be sold to external entities, or third-party stakeholders for non-company related use.  


Marketing and Promotions

The data collected is subject to soft opt-ins.

By agreeing to these Terms, you have provided consent to be contacted via various means and channels for marketing and promotional purposes / activities. The data shall be subject to use for research, market analysis, promotions and other marketing-led company initiative.

You may opt out of receiving marketing and promotional messages such as emailers via clicking the unsubscribe button or by reaching out to Backbone.  You may clearly express your consent on call if / when reach out via live / automated telemarketing channels.

Restriction & Termination of Service

Backbone reserves the right to cease, terminate, limit or stop providing the Service. Additionally, Backbone reserves the right to alter, pause, stop, or discontinue any aspect of the Services whenever it sees fit, with or without any notice to you.
