Tour operator Great Rail Journeys has appointed Backbone Connect to provide high-capacity resilient internet services as it moves into its new headquarters at Hudson Quarter.

Hudson Quarter is a mixed-use development by Palace Capital in York.  Great Rail Journeys will be the first new commercial tenant at the development where it has taken 11,300 sq ft on a 10-year lease, occupying the fourth and fifth floors of the Grade-A office building on site.

Backbone Connect worked with Palace Capital to supply the overall internet infrastructure for the building, achieving Platinum WiredScore accreditation and enabling occupiers to move in quickly and easily.

The partnership will see Backbone Connect provide a 1Gb resilient internet service as part of Great Rail Journeys’ fit out. Backbone Connect’s speed of delivery was a key factor in Great Rail Journey’s decision to appoint, removing the need for lengthy wayleaves to deliver live services by the end of March.

Callum Stephens, tenant engagement manager at Backbone Connect, comments: “Businesses need reliable and flexible internet connectivity to support hybrid models of working but without the right partner, getting that digital infrastructure in place can be a slow and frustrating process.  Great Rail Journeys has experienced long and tricky wayleaves in the past and at Hudson Quarter, it wanted a provider that could deliver what it needed quickly.  By appointing Backbone Connect, Great Rail Journeys can be confident the business will hit the ground running in its new headquarters.”
