A little about us:
As a green conscious company, Backbone Connect are passionate about protecting and preserving the ever more fragile environment. We understand that our industry is often doing more damage than good which is why we are committed to doing what we can to off set our carbon footprint. We do this in a number of ways.

And what we do:
Looking at innovative ways to reduce energy consumption both internally and through our solutions is a core focus shared throughout the business. This includes adopting technologies and working practices which promote efficiency and a lower demand on energy resources.

Where possible, we use equipment in our datacentres that generates up to 30% fewer emissions. We ensure the use of blanking plates to cut down the intake of cold air and stop re-ventilation of heated air. We also employ dedicated hot and cold aisles to ease the load on the chillers and cooling units.

These actions aren’t just reserved for our datacentres. Internally we:

• Recycle paper, card, plastic, glass, electronics and batteries
• Use recycled stationary
• Use electronic communications to avoid paper wastage
• Ensure employees are educated regarding environmental issues and the implementation of our green policy
• Ensure that all the computers used by our employees have been awarded the government’s ENERGY STAR for energy efficiency
• Use low energy light bulbs where possible
• Encourage employees to car share or use public transport
• Regularly service and maintain fleet vehicles to ensure fuel efficiency
