The Global Switch 1 data centre is located in the Docklands area of London, and is perfect if you’re looking for a carrier neutral, Tier III data centre in the capital.

Location

The central London location of this facility offers you great links to the heart of the city and the financial district. Based in the Docklands area of East London, the Global Swtich 2 data centre is roughly 5 minutes walk from East India station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). So you’re only a short ride from the centre of the city, and there is also onsite parking if you prefer to travel by car. Local amenities include shops, cafes, restaurants and the Docklands Travelodge hotel.

Connectivity

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to providers as the centre is carrier neutral and on net for many national and international carriers – including BT Openreach, Cable & Wireless, Cogent, Colt, Level 3 and many others. You can choose from national and international MPLS, and ethernet access is available from 10Mb to 10Gb. You’ll also benefit from connection to the Backbone Connect network and Metro Ring.

Power

The centre offers power available from 1kW to 8kW per rack footprint so you get flexibility when it comes your personal requirements. The facility also has onsite diesel tanks that guarantee 50 hours at full capacity via emergency power generators, safeguarding against power outages and reducing the chance of down time. The centre offers a minimum N+1 redundancy on power supply and total available power within the facility is 9.5MVA.

Building

You can gain access to the site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with entry restricted through a full electronic access control system. A dedicated facilities management team monitors the premises 24/7, ensuring temperature and humidity levels in the technical space are kept at industry accepted standards, and also maintained within energy efficient parameters.

High sensitivity smoke detectors are present in the return airflow of CCUs and the centre has a gas fire suppression system that uses Argonite/Inergen. Your racks are also very secure, with security personnel onsite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
